So here is the question, Do you think psychics are real or fake? This has been a debate and issue for hundreds of years and still is in affect to this day. Thousands of people have said that they can predict things and see into a person but is it all a big scam to get all of your money? Well after a good few weeks of research I found one partially credible source that may be real and the psychic is unknown. (The video below which I fully recommend you watch) The downfall here is that no one I know speaks fluent in French so the source may not be credible, nor accurate in English text.
The idea of this page is to figure out if they are actually reading minds? Keep reading to find out and be sure to check out the videos.

How can you tell if it's real?
If you watched the video above you have just watched something that was eerily close to what has happened in the past ten to twelve years. He predicted the year of an attack in New York, a black president within the years 2005-2012, but he predicts 2012 is the last of mankind or possibly his life. I have put a few hours looking all over the internet for this man but I found no name. This surprisingly unknown psychic is from France and no other reading has been heard from him since then. There is no background information about the man, not even his birth name in the comments and if he is still alive.. This seems suspicious speaking that a popular video has no credible name or source. The strange thing is that he is extremely accurate in his so called "vision." or this could just a plain coincidence. As we look more and more into this topic, this video seems to be the only legitimate source that seems to be the "least" false that may prove psychics are real. I say this because there is no proof in any psychic. This man could easily be a fake because we can see the 1980 is programmed in, and the sound seems a little too clear for that era. Some people have said that they have the same glasses and bought them at urban outfitters.
Why do they seem to be real?
Why do they seem to be fake?
I first want to start out that I have been to a psychic and a palm reader, both from my former High School's all night party. I felt as they knew me inside and out, it was creepy. So I did some researching and I found out that there is a basic storyline/baseline of most if not all psychics readings. This consists of basic lines like, "I know you are a confident person, but you feel quiet when you meet someone new." Most people would agree with that statement, but if the listener has some sort of confusion, then the psychic would say, "And that is what you are not." This method snaps the listener back and somehow falls for it. So do some psychics actually believe their so called, "magical powers?" The answer is yes. According to Leigh Catherine who is a professional 20 plus year medium who completely believes she has the ability to read minds and talk to the dead. She was invited to a talk show with the company of a skeptic who learned how to psychic read himself, but for the use of scamming. She seemed to be very defensive continued to look like she believed her own lies. The video is a good 14 minutes and is very interesting to see the complete opposite sides of the argument If you have time, it would be recommended to watch the full video but for the important parts skim through it to about 7:20 and you will hear her say she can't do a reading because she is here to debate stuff. This here shows she can't prove it on television. Paul gives his own "false" reading at 9:30 and you can see how impressive he is.
Why do they seem to be real?
- They say what you want to hear, not a random fact that no one would care about. Example would be a family member who passed away and is saying they love you and miss you, but not saying anything about a particular moment they had together.
- They get paid to do what they do, so it looks like a professional job.
- Followers can help widen the popularity of the psychic.
- The audience forgets the false predictions and remembers the ones that seem the most real to them.
- Our mind constantly tries to take away all of the flaws and mistakes and patch them up with the few things they got correct in the first place.
- Some have predicted the future to an almost exact match.

Another interesting piece of writing I found was an article by Terribletruth, and it shows the many reasons and facts on why psychics are presumed to be con artists. To start off in this article, the author says if psychics ever became truly psychic, then why don't they use it in a better more efficient way? Here are some good examples of what he means.
I come to think that the woman who was in the video above was lying about being medium and that she can talk to the dead right after they pass away. Paul was right when he said, "where is the proof?" If she could talk to them right away then why not read the hosts? She also gave the excuse that their is some sort of "purgatory" and that someone who died a while back can't be talked to. This throws away the ideas of Newton or any of those famous names. But why not the murder victim idea? That sounds like a suitable idea and it happens often and could be practiced daily.
From what we previously said one thing the psychics do when they say they are talking to a dead relative, they say, "Your son wants to say that he loves you." This is seen multiple times on every psychic reading show. The sad thing is that the audience completely falls for it and just like today's politics, they put their emotions over their actual rational thinking. If you think of it, anyone can say that their son loves them. Next I will give you some ideas in spotting false properties of psychics.
Easy ways to tell if a psychic or medium is truly fake
The best way to figure out if a psychic is truly fake, is to look at their background. Most popular mediums or psychics were formerly actors and had a past life in Hollywood. Michael Shermer caught a guy named James Van Praagh who not only got information about the audience, but he also had an ear piece that told him what to say about a particular person.
Hot and Cold Readings
There are a few ways that psychics go about with their performance and the two main ones are hot readings and cold readings. A hot reading is when a psychic says something that is true about everyone. This can be like a family member that has passed away and this is taken from information taken before a showing. Surveys and fanbases online can make it easy for the psychic to know the past of an audience member. A cold reading is where the psychic sits down with a person who they haven't seen before. Their main strategy is to throw out common comments and questions that can be leading and relate to anyone. The reason why it seems so real is that people only remember the parts the psychic seemed to be most right, even though the psychic could be completely working around what you say. All cold readings are based on the emotions and the characteristics of the face of the participant. If you went in with a blank stare the whole entire time, I guarantee no psychic could ever guess anything about you, they would eventually keep changing their story of you.
- Why don't they try to contact famous scientists like Darwin, Could, Fleming, Sagan, Einstein, Edison or even Newton?
- Why aren't long dead composers finishing their symphonies through them?
- Why aren't murder victims telling who their killer was?
- Why aren't Luther Jr, Roosevelt, Reagan, or Lincoln advising our leaders today?

Easy ways to tell if a psychic or medium is truly fake
- Ask a lot of leading questions like do you know anyone who died in a car crash? Then they would work around your answer to their next thought.
- Present vague materials like the height of someone who passed away.
- Claim that you are cursed and need to see them multiple times.
- Ask personal information before a meeting.
- Wears a microphone attached to the ear to hear incoming information. (found by Michael Shermer, find the video in the media section)
- Works around your answers to make it seem true.
